TemperatureWise vs MarCELL Pro: one cellular box, or one cellular site

MarCELL Pro is the name operators reach for when there is no Wi-Fi. For one cold box in a place with no internet, it is cheaper than TemperatureWise, and we will say so. About $1,106 over five years against about $1,825 for one TemperatureWise Bluetooth sensor with cellular and the backup pack.
From the second box, the cellular bill stops growing on TemperatureWise. One modem, $125 once and $50 a year, covers every sensor. MarCELL puts a radio, a SIM and a plan in every device. The monitoring fee on TemperatureWise is still $250 a sensor a year. The tables below put both the one-time and the yearly totals on the page.
The rest of the gap is early detection of equipment faults. MarCELL data is delayed. It uploads in batches, and it is not live. TemperatureWise uses a proprietary mix of machine learning on the full temperature history, not just the current reading, on a chart that is current. One save of $50,000 to $500,000 of inventory pays the extra back many times over.
What MarCELL Pro gets right when there is no Wi-Fi

Three things that recommendation is right about.
No hub, no building network, no pairing. The unit is a 4G device with a probe. Plug it in. It talks to Verizon or AT&T on its own plan. A storage unit, a farm cooler, a cabin, a kitchen whose landlord will not share Wi-Fi: that is the job.
The backup battery is in the same box as the radio. Published at roughly 24 to 48 hours. In a power cut the unit keeps running and can still send an alert, because the path out is cellular, not your router. That is architecturally good. It is why TemperatureWise will only sell a backup power pack with cellular, which we explained on cellular or Wi-Fi.
Alerts are instant on a threshold, and they include a phone call. Text, email or voice, unlimited on the plan. No credit packs. History is kept. A lifetime warranty is on their marketing pages. For one box, that is a complete product.

Both quotes are true at once. It is the thing people name when Wi-Fi is missing. It is also the thing a tight kitchen calls expensive. The second quote is why the one-box price has to be on this page, honestly.
MarCELL Pro sits on mains, and the probe still has to enter the box
The unit is a 4G brick with a probe. It plugs into a wall. The published 24 to 48 hour battery is a backup, not the way it lives. If the outlet is behind the walk-in, someone has to get power there.
The probe still has to read the air inside. Drill the panel and you buy the same hole as a through-wall logger. Push the lead through the door gasket and you hold the door off its seal. Warm air at the gasket is how boxes ice up around the door.
TemperatureWise sensors run on their own cells in the box. No cable through the gasket. If the site has no internet, one cellular gateway at the site covers every sensor. That gateway is the thing on mains, once.

Four boxes is a typical restaurant. Ten is a typical food plant. TemperatureWise uses Bluetooth in the kitchen. It uses LoRa in the plant, because ten boxes across a floor is not a $50 hub job.
The restaurant once-cost is four $25 sensors, a $50 hub, cellular at $125, and the $125 backup pack. That is $400. Four MarCELL Pros are $836. Every year after that, TemperatureWise is $1,050 and MarCELL is $716.
The plant once-cost is ten $200 LoRa sensors, the $250 gateway, cellular, and backup. That is $2,500. Ten MarCELL Pros are $2,090. Every year after that, TemperatureWise is $2,550 and MarCELL is $1,790.
MarCELL can still be the cheaper cash year. You are not paying TemperatureWise the extra for a second SIM. You are paying for early detection of equipment faults. Their cheaper year is a delayed log and a threshold. One save of $50,000 to $500,000 of inventory is multiples of that gap. The second TemperatureWise box adds nothing to the cellular bill, and the second MarCELL adds a whole unit and a whole plan.
MarCELL data is delayed. It uploads in batches, and it is not live
This is not a live monitor. It is a batch uploader with a fast alarm.
Their published FAQ, read September 2026: the unit checks every 10 seconds. If a limit is crossed, the alert goes at once. Otherwise Pro stores a point every 30 minutes and uploads to the server every 4 hours. The standard unit uploads every 8 hours. Instant Update, if you want a reading now, is $0.25 each, in packs of 8 for $2.
So the alarm can be fast. The chart is not. It can be hours behind. TemperatureWise keeps the cellular radio in a mains gateway, where talking often is cheap. The Bluetooth sensor samples every minute and writes every 5. The chart is current on Wi-Fi or on cellular.
TemperatureWise catches a failing unit before MarCELL's threshold fires
This is why you pick TemperatureWise. You are not paying for a second SIM. You are paying for early detection of equipment faults. MarCELL fires when a number leaves a band. By then the machine has already failed.
Getting a temperature alert after the machine fails is like driving with the rear-view mirror. You see the wreck. You do not see the road.
TemperatureWise uses a proprietary mix of machine learning on the full temperature history, not just the current reading. A unit losing gas changes the shape of the record. Those shifts show up days before any threshold fires. That is a weekday tech call, not warm food on a Sunday night.

The two-link physics, and why a battery behind a dead router is theatre, is the rest of cellular or Wi-Fi. What happens to each link in a cut is on what happens when the power goes out.
Where TemperatureWise falls short in this match-up
For one box with no Wi-Fi, MarCELL Pro is cheaper. $209 plus $14.95 a month billed yearly is about $1,106 over five years. TemperatureWise for one Bluetooth sensor, a hub, cellular, the backup pack, and five years of monitoring is about $1,825. If one cold box in a place with no internet is the whole problem, buy theirs.
Their yearly cash number can still win at four boxes and at ten. $716 a year against $1,050 for a restaurant, $1,790 against $2,550 for a plant. If the only line you care about is the subscription, MarCELL is cheaper.
That extra on TemperatureWise is early detection of equipment faults. One save of $50,000 to $500,000 of inventory is multiples of the gap. A cheaper threshold that fires after the box is already warm is not a saving.
Their unit rides out a power cut without extra parts. 24 to 48 hours on the published battery, radio and sensor in one pack. We need the $125 backup pack, and we will only sell it with cellular, for a reason. That is two extra SKUs they do not ask you to think about.
There is no hub to place. For a person who will not add a box to a network closet, that is a real feature. TemperatureWise always has a collector on site.
